Hidden Blessings

Thank you God for the valleys
that I sometimes find myself in.
A life that is always sunshine and no rain
would bring a world without flowers
or gardens to tend.

The rivers would all dry up,
the oceans a dream.
A world without happiness
to me it would seem.

Life can't be all blessings
there would be no need to talk with God
or bow at His feet.
Heaven would be meaningless
Angels would be without song
Life on earth would be boring
and the days here would be long.
