Christmas Rush
Driving in the car
I had to get there fast
Shopping for that Christmas toy
Put it off til last.
The traffic, it is heavy
Almost hit a tree
When I drove upon the grass
Passing stalled cars in front of me.
Little did I know
The reason they were stopped
A policeman was at the traffic light
Guiding those that shopped.
Now I've lost an hour
Trying to explain
Why I should drive more carefully
Instead of like a moving train
Standing in the line
Trying to get into the store
Wondering why all these people
Are blocking my way through the door.
I see the reason now
As the manager breaks up the fight
Two people wanted the same toy
And neither would give up his rights.
Oh, the Christmas spirit
Has lost some of its meaning
As I look at the empty shelf
Where my toy should be leaning.
What should I do
The toy on my list is not here
I will have to run to Walmart
Closing time is near
As I dash from store to store
And push my way through the crowd
I wonder if we can tell those carolers
They are way too loud.
I feel like I have been through battle
I think I've lost the war
I've been knocked and pushed around
AS I shop through these crazy stores.
I finally found the toy
My child held dear to his heart
After all the presents were opened
I saw it laying in the floor in parts.
